About Warren Branch LibraryOn October 21, 1972, the Library Board approved the purchase of a site located at 9701 East 21st Street, adjacent to the Lakeside Elementary School, just northeast of Warren Central High School and midway between Post and Mitthoefer Roads. The 16,000 square-foot library opened for service on March 4, 1974. On Sunday, June 3, 1979, a fire of uncertain origin started sometime before 4 p.m. in the interior book return area near the check-out desk. The branch was closed for seven months for clean-up and renovation, and reopened on January 2, 1980. In the fall of 2004, the circulation area was renovated, providing a new charge desk and return area. |
